On November 17, Geely Galaxy’s first pure electric model, the Galaxy E8, made its debut to the public at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
As the Geely brand’s first model to use the SEA architecture, the Galaxy E8 is positioned as a mid-to-large pure electric sedan. The body size is a major advantage of the E8. The wheelbase reaches 2925mm and the vehicle length is 5010mm. It is the only B-class pure electric sedan currently exceeding 5 meters in length. At the same time, thanks to the ultra-low vehicle height of 1465mm, the E8's drag coefficient is only 0.199Cd, which can effectively improve the endurance level.
In terms of appearance, Geely Galaxy E8 adopts the new design language of "ripple aesthetics" and highly restores the Galaxy Light concept car. The front of the car uses split headlights, and there are two front face designs to choose from. The optional integrated luminous front face is the world's first mass production, with a built-in 22 columns of 158 luminous windows, a luminous area of 0.105m², and supports different light language effects.
The E8 taillights are inspired by the rising trajectory of the rising sun and do not use traditional through-type taillights. The lamp cavity is equipped with 390 LED lamp beads, which also support different lamp language forms. The trunk is a traditional three-box style with an internal volume of 420L. In addition, the E8 also provides a 53L front trunk volume.
In terms of interior, the biggest highlight of the Galaxy E8 is the use of the largest 45-inch 8K through-car screen currently in mass production. At the same time, this screen also achieves extremely narrow black borders of 7.5mm and 9With an ultra-thin thickness of .8mm, the screen-to-body ratio reaches 98%.
The car chip is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip 8255. Compared with the 8155 chip, the CPU computing power is increased by 2.2 times and the GPU computing power is increased by 3.1 times. In conjunction with the car-machine system jointly developed by Meizu, the smart cockpit is also worth looking forward to.
In terms of intelligent driving, the Galaxy E8 will be the first Geely model equipped with lidar. However, this configuration is expected to only appear on high-end models.
In terms of power system, the rear-drive version of the Galaxy E8 will be equipped with a 400V platform and a motor power of 200kW. The four-wheel drive performance version is based on the 800V silicon carbide platform. The total power of the dual motors is 475kW, and the 0-100km/h acceleration only takes 3.5 saround. In terms of battery and battery life, Galaxy E8 will be divided into 62kWh and 76kWh, and the corresponding battery life is 550km and 665km respectively.
